We know we have Angel Power as it has been 333 years since the United Kingdom adopted John Locke's principles of individual freedom.
The Glorious Bloodless Revolution of 1688 doesn't get much attention. Maybe because there was no big, dramatic battles. Maybe discounted as religious but "The English...understood the war against France as a war to protect national integrities against an aspiring universal monarch, not as a war of religion." (Pincus 2009).
"The First Modern Revolution" occurred when the English people had just had enough.
French Globalist King became huge Dictator in UK. He read mail, closed coffee houses and stationed standing army in pubs (hard to complain /organize). He subverted Rule of Law and regularized massive biz taxes (eg. Hearth, or Carbon Tax). People feared Parliament would never sit. Bonfires celebrated the people's tiny victories but they finally saw jagged path to socialism.
Cool Elite invited other legal choice to take over but only if role minimal. So many people joined new King's army he had to turn people away. French King's army basically deserted so he took off back to France. Citizen skirmishes but no formal battles.
In January 1689 - the Convention Parliament - Mary and husband (Locke's protectors) signed “An Act Declaring the Rights and Liberties of the Subject and Settling the Succession of the Crown.” This Declaration of Rights, which became known as the Bill of Rights included the right for regular Parliaments, free elections, freedom of speech (Parliament), right to bear arms, no cruel/unusual punishments, parliament for taxes, etc.. Post 1688, the monarchy in England would never hold absolute power again. Moved from absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy or republican form of government.
Most importantly, laws could not be suspended or dispensed by the regal authority. With the recent, unprecedented attacks on Locke's principles in Canada. Australia, UK and beyond, we're going to need those Angels when the people have had enough!
